A skill is a pre-packaged playbook Claude reads before doing a task, so you get a consistent, expert result without re-explaining how you want it done. Skills live in three Claude environments, and they don’t automatically carry over between them — each has its own installed set.

A developer tool on a real computer with a live terminal — for skills that drive servers, databases, or command-line programs.
Because Claude Code and Cowork are separate environments with separate skill installs. A skill you add in Claude Code lives in that tool’s folder on your computer; a Cowork session can’t see it unless the same skill is also installed in Cowork. It’s like an app installed on your laptop but not your phone.
And some skills only work in Claude Code at all — they need a live terminal, a running server, or a database connection Cowork doesn’t have. That’s why we split the skills into two groups below.
Every skill on this page is just a written-down playbook — and you do not need to code to write one. If there is a task you do the same way every time, you can turn it into a skill the whole team can run. There are three ways to do it, and the easiest one is simply doing the task once while Claude watches.

Record a Skill is the newest and fastest route, and we qualify for it — it needs a Team plan (ours) and Cowork in Claude for Mac. Leave your microphone on and narrate as you work: Claude uses what you say to understand why you do each step, then throws the video and audio away and keeps only screenshots. Never record passwords, customer data or contracts — everything on screen is captured.
